(A) Wild type lenses showed linear fiber cell membranes. Immunogold labeling (black dots) showed that αA-crystallin was restricted to the cytoplasm. (B) Heterozygous WT/R49Cneo αA-crystallin lenses had several gold particles on the fiber cell membranes.
