Subfoveal choroidal thickness was manually measured at the foveal center using digital calipers provided by the Spectralis OCT software. Subfoveal choroidal thickness was measured by calculating the distance from a hyper-reflective line representing the outer border of the retinal pigment epithelium to the inner edge of the suprachoroidal space, which was represented by a hypo-reflective line on EDI-OCT images.
