The definitions of the metabolic syndrome components were as follows: Fasting glucose ≥ 100 mg/dL (includes diabetes); Blood pressure ≥ 130/85 mmHg or being treated; Waist circumference, women ≥ 85 cm, men ≥ 90 cm; Triglyceride ≥ 150 mg/dL or being treated; HDL cholesterol < 50 mg/dL or being treated
